One of six ambulance trips unnecessary – Metro

Every sixth patient who goes ambulance to the emergency room could have been helped in the clinic instead. This according to a new study conducted at the School of Health Sciences, reports the P4 Jönköping.

2703 patient records from Västra Götaland has been reviewed in 2011. Of them were 426-16 percentage able to get as good care at a health center. Something that the study would have been cheaper for the regions and better for patients.

– For two reasons it would have been better, and so are hospitalized expensive and secondly you get sometimes long wait in the emergency room, says Gabriella Norberg Boysen, ambulance nurse and researcher at the School of Health Sciences, to the radio.
