Thousands of refugees have to move – Sydsvenskan

The same applies to most of the approximately 5500 sites that the Swedish Migration Board rents the camping facilities. Although other temporary accommodation, as so-called evacuation centers and dense housing, must be replaced by more sustainable business sites.

– There is not much time. We work with 23000-27000 places we have time to change before the summer, says Magnus Gustavsson, Head of Section at the Immigration Service.

The big housing hunt is more intense than ever. Alternative solutions must be developed.

– State is urgent, it is a huge challenge and we need to get help, says Magnus Gustavsson.

Mostafa al-Soltan, his Ranya wife and three-year daughter Alma has in his short time in Sweden since June last year already managed to stay on two other campsites, and in Bodafors, partly in Bastad. Now they have begun to take root in Helsingborg area and feel very good. They have received several Swedish friends, studying Swedish and its best: They have family nearby. Moreover, the job outlook is good here – Mostafa is a civil engineer, Ranya environmental engineer.

But maybe the move to go far out in rural areas and perhaps hundreds of mil away from Skåne – there is nothing they beyond the control of, or think they may have views on the housing scarcity Sweden.

Migration Board is negotiating with different campsites and try to extend the contracts, but many asylum seekers will be forced to move to other municipalities, says Magnus Gustavsson.

– It’s a dilemma when children started school somewhere and have to move and start over somewhere else. It’s back.

Other solutions may be boats and barges. Magnus Gustavsson also hope that the so-called municipal compulsion to do more municipalities begin to receive refugees.

– Hopefully, the new law to unload something.

Mostafa al-Soltan think that Sweden should take advantage of all the expertise and experience of the applicant also in housing construction, now when needed so many new homes. Now he gets paid to just sit at home and wait, he says.
