Legal stops mine at shine – Metro

The government had approved mining in Norra Karr outside Gränna. But the Supreme Administrative Court set aside the government’s decision and stop mining plans – at least temporarily.

The decision revoked “because hearing is not made of the impact of land use for the associated operating facilities could have on neighboring Natura 2000 sites,” writes the Supreme Administrative Court in a press release.

a mine in the area around Gränna has been a hot potato for a long time. The company Tasman, who is a Canadian listed company, has received permission to search for earth metals in the area. However, the state appealed to the government, which gave the green light to the Tasman to start breaking. It puts the Supreme Administrative Court now stop to.

What is now happening with mining plans is unclear. The government must decide whether to do about the investigation of the mine.
