10: 30Stor increase in diesel cars in the county – Folkbladet

At the end of 2015 had Östergötland 47 cars per 100 inhabitants, which is the same as the national average of 47 cars per 100 inhabitants. Over the last decade, car density in Östergötland has increased from 45.0 to 47.4 cars per 100 inhabitants. During 2015 could be 7.5 per cent of the cars in Östergötland powered by alternative fuels such as electricity, ethanol and gas, up from 0.6 percent in 2005.

At the same time, the proportion of cars that run on diesel has increased from 5 to 28 percent, while the share of running on gasoline decreased 95-64 percent.

the car density varies greatly between counties. Stockholm County had the lowest density of cars with 39 cars per 100 inhabitants. Gotland has the country’s highest car density with 59 cars per 100 inhabitants.

– Considering motoring climate impact and traffic congestion in some regions, one may ask whether it is sustainable with a continued increase in the number of cars, says Anette Myhr.

Linköping is the county’s lowest car density of 43.2 cars per capita, while in Odeshog highest car density of 58.3 cars per 100 inhabitants.
