want to mobiles from students – Vasterbotten Courier

Teachers can under the Education Act only dispose student cell phones if they disrupt order. But it wants Prime Minister Stephen Löfven (S) to change. He wants schools to be able to dispose of mobiles as a preventive measure, reports the Echo on Swedish Radio.

The Prime Minister is based on a British study by the London School of Economics, which shows that students’ test scores improved in schools banning mobiles.

– In the classes where you do not have mobiles more students learn more. In addition, students perform worse comes even worse in classes where there are mobiles with them, says Stefan Löfven to SR.

A forthcoming study of modern technology in the school, where the government wants to review just how students receive use their mobiles in the classroom, has been cut by the Teachers’ Federation.

– There are more important things to look at, said Lärarförbundets chairman Johanna Jaara Astrand in April.
