In the future, the government wants to make it easier to expel EU migrants who have settled in places they do not have the legal right to stay. It said Justice Minister Morgan Johansson (S) at a press conference today.

The Justice Minister Morgan Johansson, children, the elderly and Gender Asa Regnér and Culture and Democracy, Minister Alice Bah Kuhnke has unveiled a package of measures for vulnerable EU citizens .

Morgan Johansson was careful to point out that the government wants to ban begging and that there must be a fundamental respect for this involves vulnerable people.

– But there are three elements we can not accept: the people begging utilized and exploited, if it grows up hundreds of spontaneous settlements in public, private or municipal land, and harassment and violence against the people asking for money.

Among other things, said Morgan Johansson, the government wants to make it easier for the authorities to evict people who have settled on land they do not have the legal right to stay.

– The current legislation is not intended for this type of situations. We want to simplify these rules, he said.

Asa Regnér pointed to the responsibility of the begging EU citizens ultimately lies with the countries of origin, such as Romania.

– We have signed an agreement with Romania that focus on children and women’s rights and welfare development. What we do now is to put together a working group from both countries to meet after the summer. After that we will come out with a very concrete plan of action, she said.
