Despite the great commitment of the Congress from the selection of an individualized parental insurance, including Green Youth, and despite government partners, the Social Democrats said yes to the Congress recently, so it was no to MP will pursue the issue with quite strong majority.

SvD spoke to the party’s equality spokesperson Annika Hirvonen ahead of the vote. She called individualization is the single most important measure for gender equality in working life.

If the party executive line, saying no, she said this:

– I think they’re cowards.

After the defeat saying Annika Hirvonen the need for a more thorough proposal next time.

– We will return. This question has long been discussed in the party and I believe that we must take a broader approach in which we reason about how an individualized parental insurance can be adapted to the most vulnerable families and women living in violent relationships, she says to SvD.

– I think that was what worried enough representative to the proposal would fall this time.

How do you feel that the Social Democrats are now more radical than the MP in question?

– I’m very positive that S has taken this step, in practice, we are very close to having a majority to go forward with further Dad months. In practice, I do not think that the political situation has changed so much. But when we reached a three-way split, that’s when it starts to burn in knots, says Annika Hirvonen.

Jon Karlfeldt in the party belonged to those who do not want the party would pursue the issue. He said before the vote that it was good that the commitment to feminism is great, but that line with a three-way split as the party pushed for time is “slightly better”.

– We preserve some flexibility for families.
