Toftasjön School in Munka Ljungby outside Ängelholm has been hit by a strong stomach flu outbreaks. Already during the last week began pupils become ill, and on Monday had a total of 150 of the school’s approximately 600 students sick signed up. While 23 staff members have been affected.
Many parents tell Helsingborgs Dagblad about children who suddenly begins to cascade vomit, and voices raised for the school to investigate what is behind the disease.
But an epidemiologist who worked with the outbreak think it’s about common winter vomiting disease rather than, for example food poisoning.
– Symptoms speaks more to viruses than bacteria. The sick will recover quickly, but because they do not become sick while there appears to be food poisoning, says epidemiologist Niclas Winqvist to the newspaper.
