Young man died in an apartment fire in Umeå – Helsingborgs Dagblad

A man in his 20s died on Tuesday evening after it caught fire in his apartment.

It was at 21 o’clock the fire department was alerted to a student dormitory in Ålidhem in Umeå. Where they were met by very much soot and a young man who died.

– When the fire brigade arrived the fire had gone out, but it was still very smoky and warm, says Tommy Nilsson, duty officer at the Västerbotten police.

The fire had not spread to some nearby apartments and the police have cordoned off the site so technicians will conduct an investigation over the weekend. Kin are notified.
