SMHI warns of heavy snowfall – UNT

SMHI warns of heavy snowfall – UNT

The question whether there will be any snow in Uppland over Christmas have been recurrent in recent weeks. Now, however, SMHI announces that it will be white on the hill on Christmas Eve, at least along the coast of Uppland. On Tuesday evening issued a warning for heavy snow.

– In order for us to issue a warning requires generally that it will fall five inches of snow in six hours. In this case, it is a combination of wind and snow that has meant that we issued a Class 1 warning for the coast of Uppland, says Emilie Hörnqvist at SMHI.

According to SMHI Forecast on Christmas morning, the day will first be clear but with increasing snowfall from the north later in the day.

Especially at the coast of Uppland, it becomes at times heavy snowfall or snow showers in combination with fresh or hard northerly wind. 2-9 degrees below zero.

Boxing Day will be windless and cloudless by about 4-10 degrees below zero.

– There will be below freezing so then will probably be able to enjoy a bit of snow, says Emilie Hörnqvist.
