Police investigating suspicious object in Stockholm – Aftonbladet

Police are investigating a suspicious object in the Globe area in southern Stockholm.

According to Aftonbladet could mean a sharp bomb – like a woman suspected to have been placed as a part of an ongoing conflict.

– It came in as an object that sat and blinked at a towbar, says police informer Towe Hägg.

Police received a call via SOS clock 14:22. One person had observed suspicious object that was stuck on a hitch outside an apartment building in the Globe area in southern Stockholm.

– It came in as an object that sat and blinked a hitch. When the patrol is in place, it was found that the object is not in a hitch but is on a walkway in the area, says Towe Hägg.

According to an informant familiar with the investigation, it’s probably about a sharp bomb charge. Suspected offender is reported to be a woman who placed the bomb as part of the ongoing conflict.



Assessed sharply

Police would not comment on details of a possible motive or a suspect.

– This is the part of our work that we can not talk about. Right now, we prioritize to inform the public that we are in place, says Towe Hägg.

Police have cordoned off a large area. Around encouraged to not staying in the room that has windows facing the object.

– At present, we consider it sharply until the engineers have been on site and maybe we can make a different assessment, says Towe Hägg.

Police said that the object including consists of colored electrical wires and electrical tape.

Towe Hägg says that a person has removed the object from the towbar and the police have this afternoon been in contact with that person. According to Aftonbladet data was the car owner who discovered the object and then threw it away.



“Huge roadblock”

Police bomb technicians arrived on the scene shortly after 17:30 on Sunday and started the first survey. At 18.15 displaced police object to a bomb wagon and began an investigation into the car. Shortly before 20 police announced that bomb technicians will examine the subject in the coming days because it was unable to ascertain how dangerous object in place.

Sonja Annersten, 23, is one of those forced to leave their homes because large parts of her apartment facing the spot where the suspected object is located.

– This occurs at a car right outside my house. They have cordoned off a huge area outside. I only got to be in the bathroom and hallway so it was just pack up my things and go out, she says.

Earlier Sunday evening there except police patrols also emergency services and ambulance based on the location.
