Support for KD proposals on migration – Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet

Support for KD proposals on migration – Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet

Last week , the Christian Democrats proposed a series of migration and integration. Among other party wants to lower the establishment premium by about 25 cents a day from today around 300 crowns.

The party also wants to see temporary residence permits in the first years, rather than permanent, and faster turnaround times for people coming from countries ” can be classified as safe. “

polling institute Sifo has to SvD asked what voters think about the Christian Democrats’ initiative in immigration and migration issues. About four out of ten, 43 percent, are positive and think that the proposals are very or fairly good. Almost one third, 30 percent, are negative and think that the proposals are very or quite bad. About as many, 27 percent, are undecided or do not know.

– Here, there are many who are undecided but it’s still a slight preponderance for those who are positive, says Toivo Sjörén, opionschef at Sifo.

He emphasizes that it is impossible to determine how well informed respondents are actually in the proposals. However, the results indicate that they have been successful.

The strongest support comes from Alliance voters, where six out of ten are positive, 12 percent negative and the other uncertain or do not know. In the KD-voters is 90 percent positive.

The proposals have been criticized from several directions. The Green Party’s immigration policy spokesperson Maria Ferm mean they transmit a signal to people who come to Sweden is a problem and that the proposals “risk to blight the whole public debate.”

Prime Minister Stefan Löfven has said that KD is likely to play Sweden Democrats hands. The aid is also lower among red-green voters, where only 17 per cent are positive and 58 percent negative.

– The Red-Green does not like an alliance proposal is perhaps not so surprising. But within social democracy, it is still 19 per cent, almost one in five, who welcomes the proposals, says Toivo Sjörén.

Sweden Democrats voters are overwhelmingly positive, with 79 percent. But Toivo Sjörén emphasizes that the measurement does not respond to voters’ attitudes towards immigration.

– There may be such a connection, but it need not be so. One might be open to high immigration but like to have other rules.
