A real effort to improve the quality of those studying at the university must go before a further expansion of the College, writes three representatives of academics compartment Saco at Dagens Nyheter.

Today, there are about 50 institutions of higher education and at least one university in each county. Meanwhile, there is political pressure on education and training.

“But unilateral initiatives in more places favors neither society, universities or students receiving training of dubious quality,” writes Saco representatives.

The transition to higher education is already high among young people in the highest grade intervals and this means that students with poor knowledge comes in when the university is growing, according to the authors. Moreover, it can not be excluded that the requirements of the students lowered.
