Mythical fluff in the winter forest – Aftonbladet

Helsingborg. High humidity and temperatures below freezing at night – then the chances of seeing so-called Haris greatest.

As the cotton candy or fluffy plot beard sitting on dead branches of deciduous trees, which, among other things, could be seen in Söderåsens National Park east of Helsingborg now in the holiday season.

The mythical phenomenon occurs when water soaked branches freezes. The moisture is squeezed out and form ice crystals in fancy formations.

Gnome Beard, bommullsis and isull are other names for hårisen.
