Smuggled dogs is increasing in Sweden – Västerbotten Courier

– Buying living creatures over the internet is a risky activity.

Anna Lindgren, veterinarian at the Agriculture Department, if there is a risk that buying a smuggled animal for purchases on the Internet .

Last year it was transferred into 283 dogs illegally in Sweden. Of these, 24 were killed. The year before the figure was 333 dogs and 73 of them were killed. Other infection control measures can be isolation, quarantine, exit and veterinary care.

ID tag, rabies vaccination, EU pet passport and that the animal is notified of the duty required to bring a dog, cat or ferret from another EU country or a country that cooperates with the EU. After the anti-rabies vaccination, the animal must wait 21 days before admission.

These requirements apply even if you return home to Sweden for example a holiday.

Plan your buying a puppy in good time. Impulse buying on the internet is always a high-risk project.

Please contact a breeder example via the Swedish Kennel Club (SKK) and do it before it’s a puppy. Try to meet the parents before you decide.

Trust your gut – not implementing a purchase if you get the feeling that something is wrong.
