It was on Saturday that the biologist Anders Nilsson was called by a private individual in Vässingsö on the Onsala peninsula. It tells the Gothenburg Museum of Natural History in a press release. The man stated that he found two tumblers, one of which was still alive.

– When I came out there were both dead, and it was also clear that there were some porpoises but two dolphins, says Anders Nilsson in the press release .

Striped dolphins or Stenella coeruleoalba that the species is actually called, is a species that normally live in warmer waters than our western Swedish.

– You can start to think about what made they ended up here, says Anders Nilsson.

How dolphins died is not clear. According to Anders Nilsson, they looked to be in good body condition and had no nätskador or propeller damage.

– It’s a mystery.

The next few days can see a dolphin at the Gothenburg Natural History museum. Then they will be sent to the Museum of Natural History, which collaborates with the National Veterinary Institute, to be examined more closely.
