In an incident with a Russian SIGINT aircraft in March this year was an SAS plane with 134 passengers on board seconds bumping, says SAS plane’s pilot in an interview with the Daily News.
It could have ended very badly, says the pilot Johan Wiklund told the newspaper.
The dramatic event occurred eight thousand feet in the air in international airspace five mil southwest of Malmo. SAS plane had taken off from Kastrup in Copenhagen and the weather conditions were perfect.
Pretty soon heard Wiklund how traffic management warned another plan for a military aircraft in the area. A few minutes later, Johan Wiklund same warning, writes DN.
I had begun the ascent when I suddenly received a new message with the flight management suggested I cancel and keep my height.
Wiklund had by then understood that military aviation warned against had turned off its transponder.
Just when I canceled the climb I see it out there to the right. I count to five. Then pass it straight over the heads of us.
The minimum safety distance GAAP 300 meters. Wiklund believes that the Russian SIGINT plane passed 90 feet above them.
On Friday, there was a similar incident when a Russian SIGINT aircraft came close to a Danish passenger plane that flew on behalf of SAS.
