The Expectant mothers are becoming thicker. Last year, 38 percent of women who were enrolled in prenatal care are overweight or obese, according to the National Board. That compares with 25 percent, 1992.
Although the proportion of women who suffer from severe rupture of the pelvic floor during childbirth increases. 2013 hit 6.2 percent of first-time mothers of this – against 2.9 per cent in the early 1990s. There are also significant differences between county councils. The highest proportion of sufferers, 7.4 percent, was in Stockholm, lowest in Norrbotten, 3.8 percent.
The statistics also show that there are large differences in the proportion of babies born by caesarean section.
