Uneasily at the parade in Belfast – Hufvudstadsbladet

A 16-year-old girl has been seriously injured in connection with the unrest in Northern Ireland, where Protestants conducted an annual parade.

The girl ended up in a car drove right into a mob, the newspaper The Guardian. A police officer was also injured when angry protesters threw bottles, stones and other objects in anger that they have been prevented from marching through a Catholic neighborhood of Belfast.

The parade is held every year in memory of the Protestant King William of Orange defeated the Catholics in the Battle of the Boyne in 1690. Northern Ireland’s Catholics perceive the parade as provocation. Last year was implemented parade without violence, for the first time in decades.
