Wilderness guide warns novice to paddle in the lake Rogen – Swedish Radio

Lake Rogen is extremely svårpaddlad and requires much experience both mountains and lake. It says Miq Bohlin, former wilderness guide in the Rogen area, after three Danish citizens yesterday found dead in the lake.

This summer two difficult canoeing accident occurred in Jämtland.

In June, six young people at a confirmation camp near drowning in Ånnsjön in Åre and yesterday found three Danish citizens, including a six-year child, dead when their canoe in the lake Rogen in southern Härjedalen at the Norwegian border.

Miq Bohlin in Kall Jämtland is kanotentusiest and has been vildmarksgudie in Rogen. He says that the lake Rogen is svårpaddlad and requires much experience both mountains and lake.

– Rogen and Ånnsjön are shallow lakes that are sneaky. When it blows forming waves, but because the lakes are so shallow can not wave spot. That kind of breaking waves are terrible and can easily drown a canoe, they wash right into the canoe, simply.

– You can very quickly become chilled if you can not quickly get up on land. In a few minutes you are so chilled that it is a total idiot, says Miq Bohlin.
