Chaos in Gothenburg after major blackout – Expressen

Just before six o’clock on Tuesday broke a major power outage in Gothenburg and Mölndal. When it was at its worst was 35 000 sufferers.

On Liseberg stayed some rides in the air – but at 18:30 the power came back on the fairground.

– Now it comes! Right now as we speak. Let there be light, says park manager Kent Kierdorf.

It was stop the trams in central Gothenburg after extensive power outage. It must have been caused by a lightning strike.

Andreas Rydbo, Vice President of Göteborg Energi:

– There is a substation of the waterfall that is broken. If lightning struck in it or not, I dare not answer, but it stopped working. When it was at its worst, it was 35 000 sufferers. Virtually the entire downtown Göteborg suffered and even Partille.

On the Sahlgrenska struck spare generators in operation for only a few seconds.

– There was a brief stop in a few seconds, then went reserve time. No patient has been harmed by this, says Lisa Klang at Sahlgrenska.

The power came back

Right in town, it was completely dark – and Liseberg stayed attractions.

Fun field of backup power was turned on, but it took time to get visitors from the attractions.

– Security Centre and the emergency exit, worked exactly as it should. When the power goes stops the attractions in the best location, or they go down to the lowest point. In some cases we had to raise the guests, there is nothing strange about it, says Kent Kierdorf, park manager at Liseberg.

In the middle of the interview, which was done at 18:30 o’clock, he exclaims:

– Now it comes! Right now as we speak. How happy I will be, glorious. Now the lights … I’m going out to the park and watch. Signs and mostly shines. Let there be light, ‘he says.

“The small”

Linda Eriksson visited Liseberg amusement park with his son when lightning struck in the park.

– First, bang, Then you heard the children screaming and crying. A father tried to calm her six-year daughter who was completely heartbroken. She went alone and were well probably really scared. Thank God that my son did not go right then and got caught. You had no information Liseberg about what happened, says Linda Eriksson.

Staff went off to try to save the children from the ride.

– They were climbing out of the way, it looked a little risky, says Linda Eriksson.

She is also disappointed not to get the money back after the technology crash.

– It was a megakö to the information desk. People wanted their money back. We like skiing with the family and paid good money for wristbands want to have it back after this kind of experience, she says to GT.

“Everything is chaos”

Biopalatset in Gothenburg was another one of those places that knocked out the power failure.

In and outside entrance thronged moviegoers. The films had blackened abruptly and everyone had to leave the salons.

One of them was Birgit Carnerheim, who entered from Lerum to go to the cinema.

– We stood in the elevator, which Luckily, opened it up, otherwise we had been standing there now, and remained throughout the evening. Everything was completely dark in there, she says

Birgit Carnerheim say they have never experienced anything like that before.

– Never ever. The entire town has been wiped out. It is very, very bad not to Gothenburg may have better resources, she said.

How would you describe the situation when the power went?

– Everything is chaos.

“got scared”

Allum in Partille got evening shoppers and restaurant guests finish their tours in the dark.

– We ourselves were frightened indeed. It came from nowhere and shop owners were also a bit nervous. There were no societies that worked and more alarms went in once, in the cars off too, says Mona who stood in line to pay when everything went out.

According to her, did not work either matställenas ovens, as several guests were sitting without food.

– It was a bit chaotic, says Mona.

Andreas Rydbo at Gothenburg Energy estimated that their customers would have returned power than 19.15.

Västtrafik announced at 19 that it remains stops in tram traffic between two distances: Nymånegatan and Bergsjön and Munkebäcksgatan Square and Östra Hospital. Between the other it should roll as usual, albeit with much delay.
