The government believes in more solar power – Vasterbotten Courier

The government wants it produced significantly more solar electricity in Sweden.

Facts

The photovoltaic systems have been used in Sweden since the 70th century

At first, they were used mostly for boats, cottages and caravans without electricity grid connections.

Recently, interests to connect solar panels to the grid increased

One square meter of solar cells normally provide 150 watt a sunny day in Sweden .

The Agency will now have the task of developing a strategy for the promotion of solar cells.

– There is an enormous interest for solar energy and there is a huge technological development. At the same time, it is today a very small portion of our electricity, says Energy Minister Ibrahim Baylan (S).

The strategy could include whether investment is needed, how solar electricity will be integrated into the grid and whether or how solar electricity will be taxed in the future.

According to the Energy Authority came just 0.06 percent of the electricity consumed Sweden, 2014 from solar cells.

– Even at our latitude, and with a summer this, then the solar cells to be a powerful tool with the technological developments we have said Baylan.

– On average, it is as sunny in the south of Sweden, in Germany and in Germany, photovoltaics considerably more.

Baylan indicate that the cost of producing solar cells have fallen steeply in recent years and that interest in installing solar cells is large Sweden. Therefore, the Government has announced that in the autumn budget will invest SEK 450 million from 2016 to 2018 in support of such installations.

The Agency should delredovisa a proposed approach within 28 mars in 2016.
