Asylum country Sweden is not as attractive – Göteborgs-Posten

Migration Board believes that the trend of increasing numbers of asylum seekers have now been broken.

One reason is that the image of Sweden as a great country of asylum has changed.

Immigration Service estimates in its latest forecast that around 74 000 people seeking asylum in Sweden this year. There is a write-down from 80,000 in the spring.

One reason is that Sweden is not as attractive as a recipient country, particularly among Syrians.

Germany No. 1

Fairly long processing times compared to Germany, which has a fast track, and integration in Sweden. It is difficult to find housing and jobs, it affects people’s choice of destination country, says the Migration Board’s Director General Anders Danielsson.

Meanwhile expected Germany to strengthen its position as the EU’s main country of asylum and receive 400,000 people in 2015. But other EU countries receive more and more asylum seekers. During the first three months took Germany, Hungary, Italy and France to more than Sweden.

Border controls

Another reason that fewer asylum seekers are expected to attend Sweden than previously thought is that it has become harder to get north in Europe. For example, France has imposed border controls against Italy, Switzerland is considering the same thing and Hungary builds a fence along the border with Serbia.

As for the group of unaccompanied child writes the Swedish Migration Board the forecast 8000-12 000. The increase flagged Man earlier this summer.

increased dramatically

Therefore, Sweden continues to be the country that receives the highest number of unaccompanied children in the EU.

Half of all refugees on Earth are children, and many of them come to Europe. The number of children who come to Sweden linked to the number of children in Europe increased dramatically, says Danielsson

The increase in unaccompanied children have made the Migration Board now directs children to municipalities regardless of how many children municipalities have taken received earlier.

The cost of receiving unaccompanied children are estimated to increase by SEK 600 million this year, compared with previous forecasts.

However, since the total number of asylum seekers is written down does not ask the Migration Board more money for this year.
