Declining horse was rescued from the swamp – Expressen

The rescue of three stations were called out on Sunday evening to save a horse sunk in a marsh in Östra Frölunda.

After several hours of work with specialized equipment could the horse eventually rescued.

– It had fallen back quite sharply and had just head up for a while, says Anders Näsström, duty chief of staff at the Southern Älvsborg Rescue Association.

A horse owners in Östra Frölunda, who was out with his horse on Sunday evening was forced to call the emergency services after the horse has gone down in a marsh.

The alarm was 20:49 and rescue services from three stations were called to the marsh.

– It had dropped down quite sharply and had only head up for a while, says Anders Näsström, duty chief of staff at the Southern Älvsborg Rescue Association.

They brought emergency special equipment for rescue animals in the form of a tracked vehicle with a crane.

– We tried to make the horse sank deeper and had a clear airway. We used fire hoses as we tried to get down under the horse to pull it up, says Anders Näsström.

In the several hours needed rescue workers struggle to get up the horse.

– It took time to get up. There needs to be a few people to draw a horse weighing 700-800 kilos, he says.

At 23 o’clock was the horse to end up out of the swamp and could get on his feet.

– The horse went home with the owner. Then got the rest and maybe some good food, says Anders Näsström, duty chief of staff at the Southern Älvsborg Rescue Association.

How common is this kind of job?

– It is not unusual but happens a few times a year. It can be about horses or cows walking freely in the forest. As happens like this, says Anders Näsström.
