Tropical Night in the north – Vasterbotten Courier

Part of the Norrland coast, from Kuggören outside Hudiksvall to Brämön outside Sundsvall, may have had the year’s first tropical night in Sweden.

– It looks at least like now, says Mattias Burtu, duty meteorologist at SMHI to TT at half five in the morning.

At the time, it was 22.5 degrees at SMHI’s two monitoring stations on Kuggören and Brämön.

Mattias Burtu emphasizes that it is possible to say for sure if it really was a tropical night first a little later in the day.

A tropical night occurs when the temperature never drops below 20 degrees.
