Strong wind caused problems in western Sweden – Vasterbotten Courier

Strong winds caused a lot of traffic problems in western Sweden on Monday afternoon and evening, both at sea and on land. For example halted rail service between Munkedal and Strömstad.

– There is a tree blown down on an overhead line, said Thomas Pihl, the Swedish Transport Administration’s press office.

The traffic was estimated go back to normal on Tuesday morning.

At Tidaholm in Västergötland blew trees down across Highway 26 in several places.

Vindö Bridge at Orust was partially blocked when the trailer to a car blew down. No one was injured but there were long queues in the dense traffic, according to police. E6 was Uddevalla Bridge closed to heavy traffic and passenger cars with trailers because of the strong wind.

Search and Rescue received the alarm from several recreational craft landed in distress in the area around Marstrand where wind speeds reached up to 20 meters per second.
