Continued reduction in fatal traffic accidents – it shows Transport Agency’s compilation for the first half of this year.
– It displays after that it’s on track to reach the goals that Sweden has set a maximum of 220 road traffic fatalities in 2020, says Henrik Olari is press officer at the Swedish Transport Agency.
During the first half of this year killed 114 people perished in road traffic. It shows the preliminary data from the Swedish Transport Agency.
More than half of the dead were 76 people killed when they were traveling in the car. One third of the accidents was a lonely person at the wheel:
– Single accidents by car, in many of the cases it is about the driver was under the influence of something, such as alcohol or other drugs, says Henrik Olari.
10 per cent, ie 15 people, the judgment of the fatalities were pedestrians and found themselves along a road or at a transition points.
– The largest decline was among motorists and motorcyclists but right when it comes to these vulnerable road users such as cyclists and pedestrians where it has not gone down as much, says Henrik Olari.
And even though every single death is a great tragedy that shows today’s statistics, the average number of fatalities still declined by 8 percent in comparison with the past five years.
A small reduction in fatal accidents, says Henrik Olari is press officer at the Transport Board:
– Looking at little-term, quarter past ten years, when it was 200-300 people who lost their lives.
