Recent analysis of samples from Bykrog Löttorp on Öland show that an unopened jar Iwi allspice contain salmonella, the same type that infected people have had, say Borgholm municipality. Allkryddan used frequently in cooking in the village saloon and has previously held suspicions that it is the spice blends that caused the salmonella outbreak.

The same type of salmonella found in Sevan allspice which is similar to Iwi in the ingredients. Sevan has been linked to other outbreaks around Sweden.

But Sevan allspice is not used at the pub in Löttorp. There they have instead found salmonella in an unopened jar Iwi allspice – a blend of spices that are used frequently in cooking at the restaurant.

So far, 140 people this year infected by the salmonella bacteria that usually called the rarer variety, 80 of these have been affected by a visit to the village saloon in Löttorp on Öland.

It is not clear yet through analysis tests to Sevans allspice carry the infection, but independent factors suggest that this could be the case Sevan writes on his website.
