A 13-year-old boy was reported missing in Ljungsbro yesterday after he did not come home from a bike ride.
In the night he was found drowned in a canal.
– It is tragic, says Jan-Eric Palmquist, duty officer at the police.
The boy was seen cycling in their neighborhood in Ljungsbro northwest of Linkoping, yesterday afternoon, but when he had not come home that evening, his parents reported him missing.
– We got this at half past nine o’clock yesterday, says Jan-Eric Palmquist, officer officers of the Östergötland police.
He says that the police focused the search to areas at the canal.
– He had talked about he wanted to learn to swim, says Jan-Eric Palmqvist.
He continues:
– Then when we started looking, we saw his bike and clothes at the canal in Ljungsbro and we got there and rescue divers. The anträffade him dead in the canal.
The police do not suspect any crime is behind the death.
– We believe it is an accident. He tried to learn to swim and then dropped. It is tragic, says Jan-Eric Palmqvist.
The boy’s parents have been notified of the death.
– They have received help from health services, says Jan-Eric Palmqvist.
