When the newly trained police assistants for the first time wages are set individually, the women paid less than men. Approximately eight percent of female police assistants, the minimum wage level, 23,800 kronor, but only about four percent of the men are on the same level. Conversely, four percent of women, but nine percent of men, a monthly wage of SEK 25 000, according to the Police Federation survey. “This is information that requires some very good explanation of the new police agency management,” the Police Federation chairman Lena Nitz in an article in Aftonbladet.

The National Police Commissioner Dan Eliasson claim in a replica that it is wrong to claim that sex was decisive for wages. “The starting salary is valued on the basis of criteria that of course is completely gender-neutral,” he writes.
