Sweden most exposed to coat crimes – Hufvudstadsbladet

Sweden is the country in Europe where there since the early 2000s has been the most crimes against the fur industry, reports Swedish Radio’s Kaliber.

Since 2003, 600 illegal actions took place here, compared to 200 in Italy, which comes second.

But after five hard-line activists were sentenced to prison terms last year, inter alia, have desecrated graves and killings threatened mink breeders, have been violations in principle ceased.

Caliber refers to unofficial figures from a British security consultant who works for the European fur industry.

How many crimes with animal rights motifs committed in Sweden is unclear, as well as how many militant animal rights activists are; the crimes are often grouped under threats and vandalism.

Just before Christmas, Parliament decided to revise both the scale of penalties for this type of crime as well as protection for people who work with livestock and animal experiments.

From the police hold it emphasizes that since the end of the year is easier to take a national approach for this type of offense would be normal again, because the police since the beginning of the year collected in one authority.
