In a report from the Agency for Health Care (Ivo) it is said that the treatment took two weeks “because of the confusion and disagreement” as to who had responsibility for patients aged 15-18 years.
The unaccompanied refugee boy became ill in August last year. The diagnosis Halmstad Hospital asked was severe kidney failure. He moved to the Child and Adolescent Medicine Clinic in Lund.
The boy would get dialysis through the catheter into the stomach. But it was while he was moved to the renal clinic in Malmö and later back to Lund. His condition deteriorated rapidly and he died of a heart attack.
The care providers explaining the deficiencies including unclear responsibilities and a lack of communication between institutions, writes Sydsvenskan online.
