Parachutist collided in the air

A skydiver nurtured with serious injuries after he collided with another jumper in the air. The incident is being investigated by the Parachute Association.

It was at a training jump in Eslov on Saturday morning, when a group of skydivers would form a star formation by grasping each other’s hands in the case, as the accident happened.

There were six people who jumped. The guy who was injured was last out. He would come up with, and then crashed, he with another jumper, says Johnny Olsson, instructor at Skåne Parachute Club.

On Saturday, he was nursed with serious injuries at Lund University Hospital. The injuries were designated initially life threatening, but later re-evaluated the man’s condition critical but stable.

Parachuting Association’s national trainer, who is investigating the accident, said that nothing indicates that something went wrong with the damaged equipment.

The young man, belonging to Halmstads Parachute Club, has several years of experience and has made about 200 jumps.

The other jumper should have survived without damage.

The Swedish Parachute Association has about 1500 active members.

Hope height tends to be 3000-4000 meters.

The jumpers falling freely about 50-60 seconds.

The parachute is dissolved in about 1000 meters altitude.

A total of 95,000 jumps made annually in Sweden 18 parachute clubs.

There is an average of one or two accidents with fractures annually. Fatalities are rare, the last was in 2011.
