Hand washing is important after contact with animals – Helsingborgs Dagblad

– It is always important to wash your hands when you have been working with animals. It should be possible to wash with soap and water and dry thoroughly afterwards, preferably with paper towel. Otherwise the risk is that you get an infection, says Margareta Löfdahl, epidemiologist at the Public Health Agency.

Animals carrying a variety of infections that can cause disease in human. Previously in May hit more persons by the parasite cryptosporidium after having patted cows on a kosläpp outside Hjo. Even bacteria campylobacter, which are of such birds, pigs, cows, dogs and cats, and E. coli, which is mainly found in cattle and sheep, can cause troublesome gastrointestinal infections.
