Analysis: Löfven cools S-delegates – Swedish Radio

Löfven received many applause during his speech to s Congress. But when he said “There is no budget trick, that suddenly create more money.” it was pretty quiet. For the Social Democrats who expected a major new approach to unemployment was Stefan Löfvens introductory speech disappointing.

From the LO, SSU, North District and elsewhere in the s Movement voices for a major investment program to overcome unemployment by building roads, housing and railways. A program that would be paid by loans.

This house’s public opinion is tired on the mantra “crown-to-crown” and now wants to take advantage of the low interest rates and Sweden strong finances to attract resources into jobs policy.

Löfven said to indeed be “ready to turn every stone to greatly increase investment.”

But when it came to concrete proposals continued the Prime Minister to plead for a job policies according to the principle “every little helps”. And repeated as a precaution the usual formula of “order in the economy.”

Although the motto “Sweden’s new jobs agenda” sounds inspired by the classic American Reform slogan “The New Deal” see it then do not like if the large investment program will be rolled out on this S-Congress. Instead, many small actions together to look like a great program.

The Prime Minister caressed agents aspirations right way but slowed while many of their proposals. “I know you are impatient,” cried Löfven but urged simultaneously to pragmatism. S leader inculcated that the Party leads a minority government that has to find possible partnerships to every single question.

It remains to be seen whether Congress delegates sitting still in Löfvens boat.
