– There have been a lot worse. Working hours are tough, at least 12-13 hours per day. Here in the taxi industry is much divorce and problems. At least twenty-five guys I know have died of a stroke. They are gone now. They no longer live. Because of the stress, says Zahed.
The echo has interviewed 100 taxi drivers about their working conditions in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö. Half say they work 12 hours or more each work.
Of the 100 works by 66 drivers, six or seven days a week.
13 of the 100 drivers work every day, thus seven days a week, which is illegal.

Most people we talk to are solely commission-based salary. The ten drivers who earn at least have a salary of less than 54 kronor per hour before tax. The very lowest hourly wage amounts to SEK 27 average.

There are many taxi drivers that disappears on errands, then lost time. We have 3 000 drivers, clear that not everyone can be satisfied. But there are certainly those who are also satisfied too, he says.
