Lund. Pesticides are commonly used in Skåne groundwater, reveals a thesis from Lund University. Eleven municipalities in Skåne has been under the microscope when a geologist Maria Åkesson gone through the old analysis results and produced data for the study of the distribution of pesticides. She has also investigated the methods used to assess proliferation risks.
But the study can not say anything about the future quality problems and potential health risks.
The problem with pesticides in groundwater is that the substances degrade slowly and that it takes a long time for groundwater to be translated.
