The new rules mean that European airlines can allow passengers to use cell phones and other technology gadgets for the entire flight.

the past, the use of cell phones has been banned due to the fear that electronic devices would interfere with flight instruments. Last year, the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) and representatives from the aerospace and electronics industry until the risk has dropped to an “acceptable level”. In December scrapped mobile ban on American air. However, retained the requirement that they should be put in flight mode.

Now EASA step further by removing the requirement for flight mode. It also allows passengers to use cell phones during taxi.

SAS welcomed the news.

We are very positive about the industry and the authorities comply with the technological developments and see the needs of our customers says Tormod Sandsto, Press Officer at SAS.

authorities change their rules does not mean that airlines apply them directly.

We have to see what that means practically we will see on our rules and how this can affect our procedures .
