Thousands without power in storm – Swedish Dagbladet

A low pressure from Norwegian Sea passed over northern Scandinavia on Saturday. SMHI issued several class 1 warning for very strong gusts of up to 24 meters per second in Norrland. The weather service also warned of rain, wet snow and poor visibility in the mountains.

In Västerbotten and in Östergötland received emergency services called out then fallen trees blocked roads. 18 passengers, en route from Norrbotten in Stockholm, was trapped in cars for hours since the train traveling in collided with a tree. But finally came a ASSISTANCE and could tow the train to Boden.

The weather gods struck also out power for thousands. Eljättarna Vattenfall and Eon reported a total of 2,016 customers without power in Jämtland, Västerbotten, SWE and Norrbotten on Sunday morning. The day before was that most nearly 9000 households without electricity.

Waterfalls stated at 8.30 o’clock that 537 customers were without power in central and northern Norrland.

– We have people out in the field and works, and also flies a helicopter over Storuman area to inspect, says Magnus Cruisers, Press Secretary at Vattenfall.

The forecast is that most should have power back this morning.

– We give priority to those who have had the longest break, he says.

On Sunday, the weather service had no warnings over the country, but SMHI warned of gale across the Bay of Bothnia.
