Maybe it was not the intention.
But President election seems to have become a way for the parties to dispose of inconvenient people.
The Parliamentary four newly elected Presidents are at least three controversial of one reason or another.
We start with Urban Ahlin (S). As foreign policy spokesperson for the Social Democrats in the two terms he would be the obvious choice for a post at the State Department, which might aid or Commerce. He also sits on the absolute S-peak, Executive Committee, since 2013.
He has been the deputy, member, chairman and vice chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee for a total of twenty years. For the past eight years he has been vice-president.
But Ahlin has also been questioned. 2010 revealed that Urban Ahlin accused of sexual harassment by a woman at the parliamentary office. He said that the woman felt offended but denied harassment.
On paper: Very fine job
A few years later appointed Håkan Juholt, then S-leaders, Ahlin to group secretary and deputy party secretary . S women then President protested the decision. Less than two weeks later, Stefan Löfven over and another group secretary was appointed.
It may have been that which was the deserving Ahlin in the saucer when he instead to become a minister at the Foreign Office had become President.
On paper it is a much finer job. The President represents the whole of Sweden, is ranked superior to the Prime Minister, leads the work of Parliament and accompany the royal couple on state visit. But the record is devoid of political influence.
By accepting to become President solved the Ahlin a problem for Löfven. He may bring in others in the Foreign Office, for example, Margot Wallström and Jämtin.
Björn Söder (SD) were selected after three lengthy ballots after hours close to the Second Vice President. He has belonged to the party’s inner circle, the gang of four, since he became party secretary and Jimmie Åkesson became party leader 2005, but now he is obviously on the way out on the periphery.
“Huge problems”
South has previously been photographed with a former Nazi soldier. And, on a blog, compared homosexuality with pedophilia among other things, something he apologized for with it went a little too fast.
But it’s probably not the one that spoke against him now. The Expo Foundation have uncovered a tape recording when Martin Kinnunen, press officer for the SD states that there are huge problems in the party organization:
– I would hope that Bear disappears and I would think happens. I do not know but I would think so.
Kinnunen also criticized the South for having excessive need for control and for that he surrounds himself with yes-men.
South announced early on that he did not wanted to continue both as party secretary and team leader, as he has been since 2010, in a further term. Now he leaves the party’s central leadership to engage President mission. Obviously with Jimmie Åkesson’s blessing. A problem is solved.
Billström also under fire
The choice of Mr Billström (M) First Vice President makes life a bit easier for the M-line. Bill Power is certainly appreciated in his party but has been Migration in eight years. It is a record, most tend to be rather short-lived.
But Bill Power has landed in trouble then and now. Among other things, he questioned the “volume” of the refugee reception and was criticized by the Deputy Prime Minister. When he said that those hiding refugees are not blonde blue-eyed ladies in their 60s took the Prime Minister to speak.
And when Bill Power defended the Stockholm police rejected Roma from Romania and Bulgaria that they engaged in “begging and loitering “stepped up to the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights.
Esabelle Dingizian (MP) will be the third Vice President. Unlike their male counterparts, she has not had an impact on the debate.
