Warning of high winds – Västervikstidningen

We have a low pressure from the Norwegian Sea to pass northernmost Scandinavia during the day. When it gets to the increasing winds from midday and in the afternoon, says Lovisa Andersson, meteorologist at SMHI.

The strong winds have already created a messy situation on the roads in Östergötland.

It has breathed heavily in the night and is still blowing. We get calls about fallen trees blocking roads. A number of signs have also blown over and landed on the road, says Lars-Göran Nilseryd, duty officer at the police in Östergötland.

At lunchtime, there were no reports of injuries or damage to property. But police warn road users of unexpected obstacles on the roads.

Earlier in the day blew a tree overturned in the center of Arvidsjaur, but there is no information on damage.

SMHI has issued a class 1 warning for very strong gusts of up to 24 meters per second in Norrland. In the mountains, it looks that come rain or wet snow, and it warned of poor visibility. Although coastal and Vänern, it becomes windy.

In northern Norway has several ferry lines forced to suspend services in the morning.
