The police have not arrested the robber who struck the exchange of Södermalm and Gullmarsplan in Stockholm. The robbers left behind suspected bombs.
– They told the staff in the store that it’s a bomb outside, but it turns out when we examine this beyond that it’s not a bomb, says Stefan Larsson, who is team leader for the police action at Gullmarsplan.
What was in the bag then?
– The was something completely harmless, I have not quite got all the details clear to me but it’s something harmless in all cases, he says.
At a quarter over ten suffered an exchange office at Civic Square for an attempted robbery. Where the robber left an item behind that police suspected could be a bomb. Just a few minutes after it was robbed a currency exchange at Gullmarsplan of robbers armed with a gun-like object. Although there was left an object that police suspect could be a bomb.
The subway at Gullmarsplan and Civic Square was closed and the surrounding areas cordoned off. P4 Radio Stockholm reporter Anders Olsson Hildemar was in place at the Civic Square in torsdagsrusket and witnessed when police bomb robot went into the store.
– Now take it to actually enter the premises, it opens the door. This is a machine, which comes from Star Wars, a friend of R2D2 or so, he says.
Police bomb technician oskadliggjorde in the day the two suspected bombs and no people were injured either at both events. At two o’clock was lifted barricades at Civic Square, and shortly thereafter, on Gullmarsplan.
No people have even been arrested for either crude attempt at Civic Square or the robbery to the exchange office on Gullmarsplan and the police have no evidence that the events are related:
– There is a big chance that both events belong together, but all we are working with an open mind and a broad front. But we look at that aspect clearly says Stefan Larsson, who is team leader of the police.
