There is a severe shortage of teachers in many areas , according to statistics from the National Agency. As much as every other teacher in the secondary school and one in three teachers in elementary school lacks competence in the subjects they teach. And four in ten registered teachers do not work within the school at all.
The Agency’s new report shows that four in ten registered Teachers not working in schools or kindergartens. The many utkvitterade teacher legitimationerna do not show at all the supply of teachers in schools.
“We need a national plan of action for the teaching profession and the urgency,” said the National Agency Director General in a press release. She continues: “Swedish school stands or falls with the availability of qualified teachers.”
