SMHI warns of rain and strong winds – Swedish Radio

Heavy rain and strong winds are expected in many parts of the country today. At most, there has so far been pouring down 84 inches of rain in Upland.

Just over a week ago, was delighted the country’s population to an unusual amount of sun and heat and the beginning of autumn looked very bright. Today, much of the country is brought back to the harsh reality.

– Yes, there are large amounts of rainfall to be expected in several coastal landscape; Gävleborg, Uppland coast, Roslags coast and on the island of Öland and Gotland, says Lisa Frost, meteorologist at SMHI.

It may up to 50 inches of rain, but even now it has rained more in Uppland where it got over 80 millimeters.

– Right now is a Class 1 warning in these areas, both at high rainfall and high winds, says Lisa Frost.

– The storm will pull to the southeast in the afternoon and as expected, both the rain and the winds calm down a little. For Öland and Gotland, this is done later tonight, says Lisa Frost.
