Bjorklund wants to introduce new national service – Swedish Dagbladet

Bjorklund told Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet that Sweden’s defense is not enough for Russia’s growing aggressiveness.

FP leader wants 5 000-10 000 young people each year conducts a twelve-month military service. With military service and refresher training up to the age of 35 would defenders doubled to 100 000 soldiers, the newspaper said.

But the proposal gets the cold shoulder by Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt (M).

– It is nothing that the government has agreed, he said to TT.

He thinks that the defense capability is greater with current effort focused and more resource efficient defense.

– I believe more in the modern, new defense said Reinfeldt.
