The Swedish Embassy in Athens are working to get more information about the case of two men with links to Sweden who were arrested in Greece.
The one of them, according to information a 28 year old Swedish in 2007 was convicted of terror crimes in Bosnia. The other man, a 19 year old, has a Swedish residence permit under the Swedish Foreign Ministry. In previous media reports have both claimed to be the Swedes. It is not known what the 19-year-old’s nationality.
The men suspected until further notice formally for violating the weapons law – they should, inter alia, have had machetes on itself. According to Greek media, they are believed to have links with the terrorist organization Islamic state and was en route to Syria.
Both have the right to consular assistance from the Swedish embassy if they request it. It has not yet done reportedly said.
They were arrested on Thursday in the port city of Alexandroupolis.
