An operation at the University Hospital in Uppsala went really wrong, writes Upsala Nya Tidning.
A patient would get a tumor removed in the head. But when the operation lasted a full 90 minutes the doctors that something was wrong. They operated on the wrong side of the head.
The reason was that one of the doctors accidentally enter the left instead of the right in the documents for the operation. This was not discovered in time, but the doctors operated on the healthy side of the patient’s head.
Now, the operation must be repeated, this time on the right side. The hospital has reported the incident in accordance with Lex Maria to the Inspectorate for Health Care.
