The work of managing floods have substantial bias towards the situation in the cities. However often lack knowledge about how rural areas are affected, according to a report from the Agriculture Department.
“Important decision support flood and torrential mapping has so far focused on urban areas,” says plant in a press release.
Cities wants to do everything to prevent flooding. Rural and Agricultural preparing rather to manage them, the report shows.
The Agriculture Department is now calling for dialogue and joint management, including research into the pros and cons of using farmlands controlled flooding areas. Low-lying and waterfront lands are often also the most fertile.
“We need to use the knowledge that already exists in the way agricultural land affects and is affected, from different aspects,” writes Agriculture.
