Trend Crimes: Fraud against the elderly decreases – Göteborgs-Posten

The number of fraud against the elderly decreases. There is a trend towards the recent sharp increase. – It is all about good police work and training, says Anders Olofsson, crime prevention at the National Fraud Center.

The number of reported fraud in the community increases overall – 181,135 police reports during last year, an increase of eleven percent since 2014.

But when it comes to fraud against the elderly took place during the latter half of 2015 a trend reversal. Although the number of notifications increased by two percent compared to the year before, the curve downward, according to the police’s National Fraud Center.
