Police: “We have arrested the man” – Aftonbladet

She tried to intervene during an attempted theft – and was beaten in front of their children.

Now the man who attacked toddlers mother in the Old Town metro arrested.

– We are more than 100 per cent sure that it’s the right person, says Chief Inspector Stefan Tellqvist.

Arrested in northern Stockholm

This meant that a large number of tips came in.

Tip who now led to an arrest.

– He was apprehended at 13:22 in Singapore and it was tip from the public that led to it. We thank you for that, says Tellqvist.

The suspect is known to police in the past.

– He is also suspected of having previously attacked police with knives, among other things, says Stefan Tellqvist.

Now the man arrested on suspicion of attempted aggravated theft and assault.

The police want at present neither indicate the age of the arrested or where he is resident.

He will be in the evening interrogated.

It was just before 11 o’clock on January 5 this year, a rise to Old Town subway station, a woman with two small children intervened when she saw a man trying to steal from an elderly woman.

What then happened, and who was captured by the station’s surveillance cameras, is how the offender then beat the intervention of the woman in the face.

He then quit spitting on her.

Everything is done in front of the woman’s two young children.

– I was so tremendously sad when I saw this movie. How anyone trying to intervene and not only gets beaten without a snorloska in the face, says Stefan Tellqvist.

“I would do it again”

When Aftonbladet Crime Centre yesterday talked with young children mother she said about the incident:

– I saw his eyes, he was so angry at me. A normal reaction would have been to run away and not attack me with two children. It’s super disgusting.

– I think of what could have happened, he could have had the knife on himself and attacked me that way.

But even though she was, she says himself terrified by the incident, she says also:

– I would do it again.
